Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's natural for questions to be raised about his future after a further convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his team in their European defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a phase like this with outcomes like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to where it needs to be, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
