The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards were hosted this past week, and through an impressive display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the most decorated winner. The standout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive secured the esteemed Top Game award, along with accolades for Best Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Complementing the developer's success, the gifted cast also garnered individual awards. Jennifer English won Outstanding Lead Performance for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Actor for his role as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive itself received Studio of the Year. In total, Clair Obscur and its developers won seven awards during the ceremony.
Additional major winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which was awarded Top Sound Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Outstanding Independent Game and Best PC Game. Notably, the lion's share of Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by the audience, with only four special—Critics Choice, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamers’ Choice—judged by critics.
