Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the pair.
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt able to share openly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can at last put my grief into words," shared Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, remarking that he cannot recall "any day without laughter".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
In a distinct tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge ruled to bar the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A court order put a security hold on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of homicide, with a public database citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Following the killings, public personalities shared divergent responses.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making provocative statements that were broadly criticized by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the detractors last week. Speaking on his program, Rogan labeled the statements as "disturbing" and suggested they revealed a concerning lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an adviser ought to have acted when the impulse to weigh in on the passing was made.
