Iranian Forces State Attack on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.

Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.

It said debris fell on a populated district in the capital, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
