It is a positive story in a periodical that Trump has consistently praised – with one exception. The cover picture, he stated, ""might be the most terrible in history".
Time magazine's tribute to Trump's role in mediating a truce for Gaza, featured on its November 10 cover, was paired with a photograph of the president captured from underneath and with the sun positioned behind him.
The result, he says, is ""terrible".
"Time wrote a quite favorable story about me, but the photo may be the lowest quality in history", the president posted on his social media platform.
“My hair was erased, and then there was a shape over my head that appeared as a hovering crown, but extremely small. Really weird! I have consistently disliked being shot from underneath, but this is a super bad image, and it merits criticism. What is their goal, and why?”
Donald Trump has shown obvious his ambition to appear on the cover of Time and accomplished it on four occasions in the previous year. The preoccupation has made it as far as his golf courses – previously, the magazine asked him to remove mocked up covers shown in several of his venues.
The latest edition’s photo was captured by Graeme Sloane for a news agency at the presidential residence on the fifth of October.
Its angle highlighted negatively his chin and neck area – an opening that the governor of California Newsom did not miss, with his press office tweeting a version with the problematic part pixelated.
{The hostages from Israel in Gaza have been freed under the initial stage of Trump's ceasefire agreement, alongside a release of Palestinian detainees. This agreement might turn into a signature achievement of the president's renewed tenure, and it could mark a strategic turning point for the Middle East.
At the same time, a support for his portrayal has been offered by a surprising origin: the communications chief at Moscow's diplomatic office came forward to denounce the "self-incriminating" picture decision.
It's amazing: a image reveals far more about those who chose it than about the subject. Only sick people, people filled with spite and animosity –possibly even deviants – could have picked this picture", Maria Zakharova shared on the messaging platform.
"And given the complimentary photos of Biden that the periodical featured on the front, notwithstanding his health issues, the case is self-damaging for the magazine", she said.
The answer to his queries – why did they choose this, and why? – might involve innovatively depicting a feeling of authority according to a picture editor, a media professional.
The photograph technically technically is good," she says. "They selected this photo because they wanted the president to look commanding. Gazing upward creates an impression of their importance and Trump’s face actually looks reflective and almost slightly angelic. It's uncommon you see images of the president in such a calm instance – the photo appears gentle."
His hair seems to vanish because the sunlight behind him has washed out that area of the image, producing a glowing aura, she adds. Although the story’s headline complements his facial expression in the image, "it's impossible to satisfy the person photographed."
"No one likes being shot from underneath, and although all of the conceptual elements of the image are very strong, the aesthetics are not complimentary."
The publication approached Time magazine for a statement.
