The newest Far Cry instalment that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing violence and mayhem with the same glee, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed narratives. Little surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two producers whose work have represented all of those things.
Based on Ubisoft's popular video game property, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' style by having a different setting and cast of characters in each season.
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we do not know what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family constantly supports me with their ongoing belief and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology series. Every title is a interpretation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can evolve from year to year, while always exploring the essence of humanity through this complex and chaotic viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to work with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, ambitious style to the television.”
A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
