Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka Claims Consecutive WTA Top Player Accolades.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive year.

The 27-year-old secured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Year of High Performance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Historic Numbers

Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a 63-12 win-loss record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in earnings.

She received almost 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Other WTA Award Recipients

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking 13-month break after the arrival of her first child and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
• Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after winning their second career Grand Slam title together.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five championship matches.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
